| Thank you to everyone who came out on September 20th for our hands-on firefighter experience event at Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company!
We had a fantastic turnout of community members eager to see what it’s like to walk in a firefighter’s boots — and they did just that! From wearing full fire safety gear (including masks and SCBA) to using rescue tools, practicing fire hose operations, and even trying a live fire extinguisher drill — participants got a true taste of the job.
One of the biggest highlights? Teaming up with first responders from:
• Franklin Park VFC • Ingomar VFC • Ohio Township VFC • Big Sewickley Creek VFC • Highland Fire Company • McCandless/Franklin Park Ambulance Authority
It was an unforgettable day of learning, teamwork, and respect for the heroes who serve our communities every day.
Remember: Local fire companies train weekly — contact your local station if you're interested in visiting or joining in on a training session. Who knows? You might be the next one to answer the call.
