Our station at 2360 Rochester Road is more than a place to park fire trucks. It is where our members train, where they wait out long nights on call, and where the business of running a volunteer fire company gets done. The building was planned around how a modern volunteer company actually operates — apparatus out front, operations and administration behind it, and living quarters above.
Here is a look at what is inside Station 158.
First Floor
The ground level is built for response. Six overhead doors front the apparatus bay, giving every engine, truck, tanker, and command vehicle its own path to the street without shuffling equipment to get a unit out. When the tones drop, crews move directly from the station floor to their assigned apparatus and roll.
Behind the bay, the radio room handles communications and dispatch monitoring for incidents in Franklin Park Borough and the mutual aid calls we run with neighboring departments. The main meeting room hosts company meetings, training sessions, and drills, while the kitchen and adjoining lounge give members somewhere to regroup after a long call or share a meal during an extended standby.
A volunteer fire company also runs on paperwork, scheduling, and planning. The first floor includes additional office space and conference rooms for officers, committee work, recordkeeping, and meetings with borough officials and community partners.

Second Floor
The upper level supports the people who make the response possible. A fully equipped workout room with modern exercise equipment is available to members around the clock. Firefighting is physically demanding work, and staying in condition is part of staying safe on the fireground — so the gym is treated as operational equipment, not an amenity.
The second floor also holds our bunk rooms. These quarters house live-in personnel who stay at the station overnight, which strengthens staffing during the hours when volunteer coverage is hardest to maintain. For residents, it means a short walk to the apparatus floor instead of a drive in from home.
Rounding out the upper level is a second lounge area and an additional meeting room, giving the company room to run training in one space while a committee meets in another, or to let off-duty members rest while business carries on downstairs.
