The Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company is quickly approaching 100 years of service to our community. We have uncovered several historical photos and stories in our endeavor to eventually publish a centennial book about our history.
We would like to share a few photographs that illustrate the changes our community has endured over the past 90+ years, and we are always looking for more photo's, news clippings, and stories. We hope these pictures will help encourage everyone to keep us in mind when browsing your old family albums or reminiscing about days gone by this holiday season.
We are also reaching out to as many descendants of the original founding members from the early 1920's as we can locate. If you have an ancestor who could have been part of this effort or a community leader in the early 1920's, we'd love to hear from you too.
We are developing a secure portal here on our website to allow the public to submit stories and historical photos of interest for possible inclusion in our history as appropriate. Until the portal is established, you may contact the fire station at 412-364-5670 and leave a message for the Treasurer on extension 103 or in the general mailbox on extension 104. We will contact you and make arrangements to meet with you.
Last but not least, we are always looking for members, If you are interested in joining the Fire Company, you're welcome to stop up most Thursday nights around 7 PM to talk to us. The only exception is the third Thursday each month when we conduct our Business Meeting. Visitors are generally welcome to observe and in some cases participate in our regular Thursday Night Training and Drill Nights.
