The Franklin Park Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 has been participating in Truck Operations training with our neighboring Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Company on Monday nights the last several weeks.

Last night we were drilling on entry and basic search and rescue. Two of our newest members joining in the past 5 months were right in the middle of the activities. Mike Settino made his first entry into a second floor bedroom window, performed a blind search to locate the victim, then passed the victim out the window to Firefighter Perry Meronyk to carry down the ladder. At the same time new member Kiran Kumar Gunti made his first entry into the neighboring second floor window to perform a search while his partner Bo Schwab directed his search activities from the ladder using a Thermal Imaging Camera.

It was a busy strenuous evening for all, but a very good experience as well. We are very grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge and take away ideas and skills from our neighboring companies. Thank you Ohio Township VFC!
